Highway Cleanup

Here is some brief information about the Highway Cleanup Program, by The Government of Alberta Ministry of Transportation:

The highway cleanup program is held annually on the first or second Saturday in May, as weather permits. Clubs may request certain sections of Highways, but the award will depend on availability (first come first serve basis). The number of kilometres awarded will depend on the number of participants. Alberta Transportation recommends one kilometre for every two participants. For example, if an organization has 20 participants then the maximum number of kilometres awarded will be approximately 10. Payment will be made on a per km basis at the rates shown below.

How does this program relate to Edmonton Chinese Baptist Church?

We are called to be good stewards of God’s creation. This program leads to an effort toward the preservation of the natural beauty surrounding our highway areas. Also, it provides a great opportunity to bond with one another as we work on a common goal, to clean a section of a preassigned highway.

The rewards we collected from the Highway Cleanup Program will be added to our Mission Fund. As the name implied, the ECBC Mission Fund is a pool of resources that are strategically allocated toward our mission efforts (such as short-term and long-term mission trips). This also includes donations towards other 3rd party, mission-oriented, registered non-profit organizations.

Special Note for this year’s event:

There will be a training session to go over all the details on preparation and safety instructions. Here is the training video:
